The print's a bit small but I hope you can read some of the great front page stories in this 1946 issue of The Carteret Press. Ahh, those sweet hometown memories -- although 1946 is a little bit beyond the reaches of my mind.
In any event, belated congratulations -- 64 years late -- to Nick Lehotsky for topping all of Miss Sharkey's Washington School 2nd graders in their paper drive contest. The contest netted the school a grand total of $14.84! Even back then, "Buddie" was showing off that old competitive drive he displayed so well during his basketball and baseball career at CHS.
Thanks to Billy Sitar and Nick Kosty (both CHS'58 alum) for providing this info to me.
